Jones fire up a water WET FEST ”95^' by Ginger Bray WAVES Vice-President Slip and Slide fun and swimsuits galore. Everyone who came out to WET FEST '95 had a great time. Our biggest attraction, the Slip and Slide, was drenched with baby INSIDE COLUMNS.... Briefly 2 Election Special 3 Sports 4 The British Are Coming 5 Voices 5 Etc 6 oil. This made the ride just a little bit slicker. Our other attractions included volleyball, slingshot balloons, hose fights, water balloon fights, and the bombarding of the volley ball players with fresh raw eggs. It was great to see everyone running around dodging eggs. Pizza Hut donated pizza for all of us to munch down on . We also had re freshing drinks. We also had music thanks to our D.J. "Squirrel" Kerr. When things began to fizzle down we had an all for one hackeysack game that really led nowhere. Then finally the vol leyball was taken away for a barefoot shirt-less match of soccer. Last, but not least, came the conquering of the earth ball. Many tried and failed. Some people succeeded in conquering the huge ball by balancing themselves on top. WET FEST '95, sponsored by WAVES, was a blast. We had a great time. Experience Dream ff Imagery” lY*aveling Exhibitions Gallery Season Begins by Matthew Yehiel Currently on display at the auditorium's traveling exhibits art gallery is a collec tion of works by Paul Hartley. Hardey re ceived his B.A. Degree from the Univer sity of North Texas and his M.E.A. from East Carolina. I was able to get Will Hinton to explain to me the interesting process that Hartley uses on some of his paintings. The first step Hartley does is to paint his background on a sheet of glass. Then, after this dries in two to three days he takes a knife and cuts out the shapes of the things he wants to paint. He-then puts the canvas over the paint (clear Acrylic) which has been cov ered with matte medium and pulls the paint off of the glass and onto the canvas. In some of his other pieces he uses a collage above where he uses cut up pic tures and paint to form his art. The col lages have a contrasting quality where he uses the different pictures to represent nor mal things. This can be seen in Movie Girl where he uses two different eyes in a face. I like Mr. Hartley's paintings very much. They have a dreamy quality to them. They are fun to look at because they have many things to see in each painting. I think that all of you should drop by the art gal lery and take a moment to let yourself float in his dream imagery. It is easy to get lost. Exhibits are displayed in the Louisburg Col lege Auditorium. Galleiy hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
